The crash occurred at 6:02 p.m. Jan. 29, on Astolat Road, just west of Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township, when a 2003 BMW X5 operated by Zamora Munford, 49, of Effort, was traveling westbound on Astolat Road. Munford began negotiating a slight curve in the roadway and traveled into the oncoming lane of travel and struck a 2012 Toyota RAV4 operated by Valerie Schneider, 49, of Effort, which was traveling eastbound on Astolat Road.

Both units came to final rest in the middle of the road.

Munford, who was not injured, was not wearing her safety equipment at the time of the incident.

After further investigation, Munford was charged in the incident.
