Traffic stop leads to DUI charges
McAdoo police cited a Wilkes-Barre woman after a traffic stop in the borough on Dec. 23.
An officer was on patrol at 2:03 p.m. when he saw a red Chrysler minivan with an expired registration sticker. He stopped the van in the parking lot of Fegley's Mini Mart on Kennedy Drive and identified the driver as Tamara Sierra, 29. Sierra provided him with a copy of a temporary registration, which was valid.
As the officer spoke with the woman he noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Sierra admitted to smoking marijuana but told the officer it had been earlier in the day.
She was given, and failed, field sobriety tests.
She has been charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
