Man charged in retail theft
A Barnesville man has been charged with retail theft by Tamaqua police.
Gary James Schrepple Jr., 27, of 343 Back Road, entered Fegley's Mini Mart on Center Street on Wednesday. He took two packages of candy from a display at the front of the store then went to a cooler and removed a container of ice tea. He went to the counter and paid for the tea. When the clerk asked about the candy, Schrepple denied taking any, but refused to empty his pants pockets.
A review of the store's security cameras clearly showed Schrepple placing the candy in his pants pocket then failing to pay for them.
He was issued the citation onFriday.
