Schuylkill crash

Published February 23. 2016 04:00PM

No one was injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 5:40 p.m. Sunday along Interstate 81 in Ryan Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said a 16-year-old male from Carlisle, Cumberland County, was driving a 2002 Buick Regal southbound when he fell asleep. The car left the road on the right side and struck the guardrail. After striking the guardrail, the car continued south on the berm for about 90 feet. The front passenger side wheel assembly and strut were torn off the car, which disabled the vehicle.

The driver had a passenger, Matthew J. Strub, 46, also of Carlisle. Troopers said the teen was cited for the crash.
