Published February 25. 2016 04:00PM

Bloomsburg University Players present "The Laramie Project," now through Sunday at Alvina Krause Theatre, 226 Center St., Bloomsburg.

On the eve of Oct. 8, 1998, 21-year-old Matthew Shepard was kidnapped, severely beaten, and left tied to a fence on the outskirts of Laramie. "The Laramie Project" depicts the life of the town a year after the murder.

The production features a student ensemble and includes Nicolai Kabana of Tamaqua.

The production begins at 7:30 p.m. each night through Saturday, with a final performance Sunday at 3 p.m. Tickets are available through the box office weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. or by calling 570-389-4409.

Judy Shepard, mother of Matthew, will discuss "The Legacy of Matthew Shepard" on Monday at Bloomsburg University.
