Credit card defaults

Discover Bank, New Albany, Ohio, has filed two debt collection complaints against local residents who allegedly defaulted on credit card accounts.

The first complaint is against James Deutsch, 374 N. Sixth St., Lehighton.

Sought is judgment in the amount of $18,664.14, plus costs.

The second complaint is against Jill Marie C. Whitney, 675 Hazlewood, Palmerton.

Sought is judgment in the amount of $15,016.38, plus costs.

Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC, Norfolk, Virginia, as an assignee of Citibank N.A., The Home Depot, has filed a debt collection complaint against Jessica J. Silfies, 571 Columbia Ave., Palmerton.

The complaint states Silfies is in default of a credit account dated May 11, 2005, that the plaintiff holds as its purchaser.

Sought is judgment in the amount of $1,970.56 plus costs of the action.

Complaints in ejectment

The Bank of America N.A., Plano, Texas, has filed two complaints in ejectment in court.

One complaint lists Dale Adams, 23 Panther Run Road, Jim Thorpe, as the defendant. It states the plaintiff became the owner of premises located at the above address by virtue of a mortgage foreclosure action and subsequent judicial sale held by the sheriff of Carbon County on Aug. 14, 2015.

The second complaint lists Deborah Sorensen, 193 N. Shore Drive, Albrightsville, as the defendant.

That action states the plaintiff became the owner of premises located at the above address by virtue of a mortgage foreclosure action and subsequent judicial sale held by the sheriff of Carbon County on June 12, 2015.

In both complaints, the Bank of America says the defendants are occupying the premises without right and without claim to title. It asks the court to award possession of the premises from the defendants, who have refused to deliver the same.

Tax liens filed

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue, Bureau of Compliance, has filed state tax liens against the following:

Business Ventures Capital Corporation, 12 Audrey Lane, Jim Thorpe, a $3,017.70 lien that includes $2,978.60 in sales, use and hotel occupancy taxes owed for part of 2011 and 2014 and all of 2012 and 2013, and employer withholding taxes owed for periods of 2013 and 2014, plus $39.05 in fees.

James Farr, 50 Maple Ave., Lehighton, a $5,121.89 lien that includes $5,082.79 in personal income taxes owed for 2009 and 2011 and $39.05 in fees.

Harold J. Knight, 65 Valley View Circle, Lehighton, a $1,292.15 lien that includes $1,253.05 in personal income taxes owed for 2012 and $39.05 in fees.

Guy Green and Brenda Wagner, 119 Hilltop Lane, Lehighton, a $1,394.52 lien that includes $1,355.42 in personal income taxes owed for 2013 and $39.05 in fees.

Jacqueline M. Miceli, P.O. Box 177, Albrightsville, a $20,738.40 lien that includes $20,699.30 in personal income taxes for 2-11 and 2-12 and $39.05 in fees.

Sues over accident

Frank Weston, Swedesboro, New Jersey, has filed a civil action against Francine McGovern, 118 W. High St., Nesquehoning, over a motor vehicle accident.

The complaint states Weston was the operator of a vehicle on June 7, 2015, near the train station in Jim Thorpe when it was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by McGovern.

The plaintiff alleges negligence and carelessness on the part of McGovern, which, the complaint states, resulted in Weston suffering serious and permanent personal injuries.

Judgment in the amount of $50,000, plus costs and other relief deemed necessary by the court is sought. A jury trial is demanded.
