Truck, van collide on I-81 in Schuylkill

A truck and a van collided along Interstate 81 in Kline Township, Schuylkill County, on Tuesday at 6:41 a.m.

State police at Frackville said Manuel S. Morrobel Dela Cruz, 59, of Hazleton, driving a 1995 Ford Windstar van, and Tyler R. Crowl, 20, of Dover, York County, driving a 2004 Peterbilt truck, were both southbound in the right lane.

Morrobel Dela Cruz began to slow down while rounding a left curve.

Crowl did not observe Morrobel Dela Cruz slowing with his truck striking the driver's side of the van.

A passenger with Morrobel Dela Cruz, Gerardo Polanco, 48, of Hazleton, sustained minor injuries and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Hazleton Campus by McAdoo ambulance.

The driver, four other passengers, and Crowl were not injured.

Troopers cited Crowl for the crash.
