Tamaqua man cited for retail theft

Tamaqua police cited John Joseph Schlauch Jr., 31, of 230 Mauch Chunk St., Tamaqua, following an incident at Boyer's Food Mart on Jan. 1.

Officers were dispatched to the store at 210 Cedar St. at 4:41 p.m. for a retail theft in progress. At the scene, they found Schlauch and the store manager in front of the business.

Schlauch had a jar of spaghetti sauce, two boxes of spaghetti and a bag of peanut butter cups stashed in his pockets. The items, valued at $15.14, were recovered.

Schlauch was cited for retail theft.
