Driver flees scene of rear-end collision
State police at the Lehighton barracks said Robert J. Muir, 58, of Gilbert, fled the scene of a rear-end collision that happened at 10:53 a.m. Jan. 10 at the intersection of Route 209 and Greenhill Road in Polk Township.
Police said he was driving a 2002 Toyota Tacoma southbound on Route 209 and failed to stop in time, and crashed into the rear of a 2015 Mazda CX-5 driven by Rebecca A. Kornek, 47, of Kresgeville. The latter was stopped on Route 209 for a red traffic signal at the time.
Police said Muir fled the scene, heading north on Burger Hollow Road. Police said a passenger in Kornek's vehicle was able to obtain the vehicle information but a search of the area was conducted with negative results.
Police said Muir was cited for careless driving.
The Mazda was able to be driven from the scene. No one was injured.
