Jim Thorpe woman hurt in crash

Mandy J. Knappenberger, 34 of Jim Thorpe, was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 7:10 a.m. Sundayon Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said she sustained minor injuries and was transported to the Palmerton Hospital in the Palmerton ambulance.

Police said she was driving a 2003 Subaru Forester eastbound near the intersection of Club Road when it veered to the left, exited the lane of travel and struck the center metal divider with its driver's side front end. The car then bounced off the divider, was redirected facing south and crossed both lanes of Route 248 eastbound, coming to rest facing south on the eastbound shoulder of the road.

Police said the vehicle sustained heavy front-end damages and was towed from the scene.

The woman has been cited.
