Romantic compositions

Dr. Donald Boomgaarden, pianist, will perform romantic compositions for the next Simply Grand Concert at 3 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Sordoni High Definition Theater at the WVIA Public Media Studios in Pittston. Seating is free.

The program includes the Viennese waltzes by Schubert and Brahms, as well as a number of Chopin's most famous mazurkas, preludes, nocturnes and waltzes.

Boomgaarden has enjoyed an active career as a concert pianist. He began his studies at the age of 4. He has performed at master classes with Gustav Leonhardt and Paul Badura-Skoda, and continues to concertize frequently as a soloist and accompanist in Europe and the United States.
