Gun-related incidents investigated in Monroe
State Police in Lehighton are investigating the following gun-related incidents in Monroe County.
• Police said a 27-year-old Lehighton man discharged a firearm inside a Silver Spring Boulevard residence in Eldred Township at 7:38 p.m. June 17 during an altercation with a 43-year-old woman from Bangor.
Police said they learned the gun was stolen and that the man is not licensed to possess a firearm.
The recklessly endangering incident is under investigation.
• An accidental shooting that was reported on Saturday.
Troopers said at 5:06 a.m. they responded to 801 Route 115 in Ross Township for the incident. Troopers learned that a 49-year-old woman from Saylorsburg was accidentally shot in the foot as a .22-caliber rifle fell off a table, causing the gun to misfire.
• Both sides in a domestic dispute are facing charges, with one ending up in jail for allegedly pointing a gun at the other during the incident.
Police said the incident occurred at 138 Crabapple Tree Lane, in Kunkletown, Polk Township. Troopers said Gary Rice and Ira Gutchin, who reside there, became involved in a dispute in which eachassaulted the other. Rice also threatened Gutchin with a handgun.
Rice was taken into custody and lodged in the county prison in Snydersville for the gun threat. The investigation is continuing, troopers said.
