State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roads recently. One involved a teen on a bicycle.

A two-vehicle crash was reported at 12:41 p.m. on July 1 at the intersection of routes 61 and 895 in West Brunswick Township.

Troopers said Jesse A. Coles, 24, of Reading, was driving a 2000 Nissan Sentra northbound on 61 and was distracted and did not see the traffic light turn red for him at the intersection with 895. He traveled into the intersection where his vehicle was struck on the driver's side by a 2002 Pontiac Montana driven by Pet Fernandez-Escribano, 52, of Reading, who was crossing the intersection on 895.

Upon impact the Sentra spun 180 degrees and came to rest on the east berm while the Montana was pushed back and came to rest in a grassy area on the west side of 61.

Coles sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene. Troopers cited Coles for the crash.

The second crash occurred at 5:20 p.m. on July 2 at the intersection of Sixth Street and Colliery Avenue in Tower City.

Troopers said Roofina Ali, 18, of Tower City, was eastbound on Colliery Avenue on a bicycle while Deborah A. Murray, 63, of Tower City, was northbound on Sixth Street driving a 2014 Kia Sportage. Troopers said Ali had a stop sign at the intersection while Murray did not.

Ali did not stop and entered the intersection where his bike struck the driver's side of the Sportage. Ali sustained a minor injury in the crash and was taken to a Pottsville hospital for evaluation. Murray was not injured.

Troopers said Ali was cited for the crash.
