Charges of driving under the influence of alcohol are pending against a 54-year-old man after state police at the Lehighton barracks stopped him for traffic violations.

The stop was made at 11:53 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Cherry Hill and Fireline roads in Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said that after the traffic stop they suspected the man was under the influence of alcohol so they took him to the Palmerton Hospital for a blood-alcohol test. The results are pending.
