Budweiser Clydesdales at Mount Airy Saturday

Published June 17. 2016 04:01PM

Mount Airy Casino Resort in Mount Pocono will host the Budweiser Clydesdales from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. The horses will walk the perimeter of the resort property and then will be outside the casino entrance for the public to interact with and photograph. There is no charge.

The Clydesdales were formally introduced in 1933 to celebrate the end of prohibition for beer. An eight-horse hitch of the special breed paraded in St. Louis, Missouri, carrying the first case of post-Prohibition beer from the local Anheuser-Busch brewery.

Today the Budweiser Clydesdales are just shy of royalty to the American brewery and require a certain size, color and disposition to be a part of the hitch. At about 6 feet tall and 2,000 pounds, you may find yourself speechless when standing next to this world-famous group of special breed of horses.
