A probation-related visit by a parole officer in Tamaqua has led to multiple charges against a woman and her roommate.

According to borough police, drug-related charges have been lodged against Christine Lynn Alfaro-Romero, 44, and Jeremy A. Snyder, 35, both of 27 N. Railroad St.

Police said agents for parolee Alfaro-Romero contacted local police on June 9 for assistance after evidence was found in a search of the residence and a vehicle owned by Alfaro-Romero. According to the police affidavit, officers discovered syringes, plastic baggies, one containing a broken pain pill inside, wax paper packets containing what police believe to be heroin and two baggies containing a white substance believed to be methamphetamine. The items were found inside a Walmart grocery bag stuffed inside a box hidden next to a dresser in the corner of a bedroom, according to the police report.

Police said Alfaro-Romero admitted to using drugs during the previous night because she had learned her daughter had recently overdosed.

Alfaro-Romero faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and a violation of misbranding medication or prescription.

Snyder faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
