Theft of puppy in Tamaqua

A Tamaqua man saw a puppy for sale and adored it so much he left without paying for it and now faces charges.

According to police, William David Lee, 41, of 104 N. Lehigh St. was visiting a house on Van Gelder Street on June 14 where a litter of puppies was being sold for $300 each.

According to the owner of the dogs, Lee took a black and white puppy and failed to make payment. The owner said the puppy was named "Tiny" and was wearing a blue collar.

Police will charge Lee with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. The criminal complaint states that Lee is also known as Dave Southern.
