Program on depression

Published March 08. 2016 04:00PM

Blue Mountain Health System Adult Partial Hospitalization Program staff will offer a free community education program, "What can you do to help a loved one who is depressed?" at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Blue Mountain Health System/Bowmanstown Medical Plaza, Acute Partial Program at 512 Bank St. in Bowmanstown.

Many people use the word "depression" to explain sadness or downswings in mood from life's struggles, setbacks and disappointments. But depression is much more than just sadness.

If someone you love is depressed, you may be experiencing any number of difficult emotions. It's not easy dealing with a friend or family member's depression, but your support and encouragement can play an important role in his or her recovery.

Learn what you can do to provide the ongoing support your depressed friend or family member needs. Understanding the signs, symptoms, causes and treatment of depression can help you to help them overcome the problem.

Register for the program at 610-377-7070.
