Driver cited after after Carbon crash

A Carbon County driver was cited following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 8:01 a.m. Friday along Covered Bridge Road in Lower Towamensing Township.

State police at Lehighton said Daniel P. Hoffman, 29, of Lehighton, was driving a 2015 Subaru southbound when the vehicle left the road on the west side and crashed into a mailbox and shrubbery in a small ditch. The vehicle narrowly missed a utility pole but hit a steel cable attached to the pole, causing thewires to become disconnected from the pole. The vehicle came to rest in the ditch.

Hoffman was not injured but the Subaru sustained heavy front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Troopers said Hoffman received two citations for the crash.
