2-year investigation ends with arrest
An investigation that began in January 2014 ended this week with the arrest of a Schuylkill County man on a charge of unlawful contact with a minor.
State police at Frackville said they began the investigation after it was learned that Ryan Lamar Wise, 20, of Schuylkill Haven, allegedly contacted a 12-year-old child over social media sites including Facebook and ooVoo, an online video chat forum. Troopers allege that Wise made repeated efforts to have the victim engage in sexual conduct with him both in person and over video chat.
On March 7 troopers obtained a felony warrant for his arrest. On Wednesday, troopers, with the assistance of multiple agencies, located Wise and took him into custody. He was arraigned before on-call District Judge James Reiley of Pottsville. He was released on $25,000 unsecured bail with a preliminary hearing tentative scheduled for March 21.
