The music of Johnny Cash and June Carter will performed at the Mauch Chunk Opera House for the first time April 2.

Legendary country rebel Johnny Cash comes to life in the re-creation show "Cash Is King."

With a career spanning half a century and countless hits, including "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk the Line" and "Ring of Fire," the Man in Black became a musical icon.

Now you can experience the father of Outlaw Country as he was in his prime, from his Sun Records days to his historic concert at Folsom Prison.

Singer Brian Chicoine captures Cash's trademark baritone, while his band delivers the infectious, driving rhythm of the Tennessee Three. Of course, it wouldn't be a Johnny Cash show without Mrs. Cash, June Carter, brought to life by Vicky St. Pierre on such classic duets as "Jackson."

With authentic costumes and stories from Cash's eventful life, Cash Is King is the true Johnny Cash experience.

Keller Williams KWhatro returns

Keller Williams returns to the opera house April 7 with Keller Williams KWhatro.

Williams uses his own songs as templates for creations involving improvisational bursts of new disco, reggae, drum and bass and jazz swing Afro trap, all with two acoustic guitars, double bass and drums.

This particular version of KWhatro features Williams' old friend and guitar player, Gibb Droll, who performed on the 2008 release "Live" as well as collaborations with Brandi Carlisle and Bruce Hornsby. Danton Boller handles the acoustic upright bass. Keller first felt his vibe with the Jazz Mandolin Project a decade ago and it always stuck with him.

Last but not least, the rhythmic genius Rodney Holmes, who traveled the world with Carlos Santana, will be holding it all together on drums as they float on acoustic goodness.

Williams is a musician beyond description. For several years, the diverse performer has wowed audiences with his technical ability, his humor and most importantly, his musicianship. He lives for his live performances. During his shows, he displays not only his precise guitar picking, but his mixing and percussion skills. He is without a doubt an original artist, and one of the most underrated.

He is a live act like no other. Although he walks on stage with no shoes and sings and plays his instruments, there is a presence to him. Whether it is antics or his occasional seriousness, he is a fascinating persona.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 570-325-0249 or online at www.mcohjt.com.

Tickets are also available at Soundcheck Records in downtown Jim Thorpe at 570-325-4009 and at the opera house on the day of show. Parking is available and free after 5 p.m. at the Carbon County lot behind the train station.

Showtime for both shows is 8.
