Credit defaults
The following actions were filed by credit card companies, or their collection agencies, for alleged defaults on credit card/loan accounts.
Midland Funding, Philadelphia, filed three actions as follows: Serena Williams, 128 E. White St., Summit Hill, seeking $1,10093; Michael Chehovich, 247 E. Catawissa St., Nesquehoning, seeking $1,045.35; and Mario Salvatore, 9 Lehigh Gorge Drive, Jim Thorpe, seeking $2,890.71.
Mortgage foreclosure
The Bank of New York Mellon, c/o One Mortgage Way, Mount Laurel, New Jersey, filed a mortgage foreclosure action against Lucy Akers, aka Lucy Easterday, 340 N. First St., Lehighton, over property at that address. Sought is $110,542 and continuing interest.
Revenue from deeds
Carbon County Recorder of Deeds Emmett P. McCall reported his office recorded 219 deeds, 149 mortgages and 276 other writs during the month of April.
As a result of those transactions, McCall turned over to the Carbon County General Fund the sum of $26,137.66. A breakdown of that revenue includes: transfer fees, $19,513.50; data processing fees, $1,903.27; notaries, $20; commission on transfers and writs, $3,781.99; and Affordable Housing administrative fee, $918.90.
McCall remitted $322 in state writ taxes to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, while Carbon County municipalities and school districts shared realty transfer tax disbursements totaling $188,586.26, the same amount that was forwarded to the state in realty transfer taxes.
McCall deposited $1,944 in the Recorder of Deeds Record Improvement Fund and $1,296 in the Carbon County Records Improvement Fund, these being fees assessed by state law on each transaction for records management needs. An additional $20,235 was collected and remitted to the state for its Judicial Computer System program.
Also, $5,207.16 was collected last month for the Affordable Housing Program in Carbon County.
In all, funds collected in the Recorder's office last month amounted to $432,314.34.
