'Cinderella' as a musical in Tamaqua

The Tamaqua Area Community Theatre will present "Cinderella - Retold as a Musical Play" at 7 p.m. on May 20 and at 2 and 7 p.m. on May 21.

Directed by Jonathan Rodgers-Blackwell, the production is based on the book, lyrics and music of Robert Neil Porter and Jack Perry. This version of the classic fairy tale has all the familiar characters, with the addition of Cinderella's faithful dog, Rover, who has been given the ability to speak, compliments of Fairy Godmother.

All performances will be held at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua.

The theater group's next production will be "Gypsy." Auditions will be held, at the art center, from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 22 and from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 23.
