Viktorija Gecyte at Miller Symphony Hall

Lithuanian-born Viktorija Gecyte, a Lafayette College graduate, will perform smoky jazz numbers with her longtime friends, Go Trio, at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Miller Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth St., in Allentown.

Gecyte is all about controlled power. She stays in one spot as she sings but her body is all inspired motion and her smooth voice always seems ready to explode. It doesn't though, instead she covers songs with the nuanced phrasing and rhythm changes of an accomplished jazz singer.
