Minersville man cited for theft, conduct
A Minersville man was cited by Tamaqua police after he was caught trying to steal an employee's purse at the Fegley Mini Mart, 30-32 Center St.
A man, later identified as Christopher M. Fessler, 30, of 101 N. Fifth St., entered the convenience store at 12:51 p.m. on May 13. He went into a backroom where the door was marked "Employees Only." When asked what he was doing he said he was picking up a purse "for her." The owner of the purse is an employee who has no association with Fessler. Another employee took the purse from Fessler, who then fled in a black Ford Escape bearing the license plate DAV9812.
The Ford was stopped by Port Carbon police a short time later. Fessler was then identified and his photo shown to the Fegley employees. They confirmed he was the man who tried to take the purse.
He was cited for theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, defiant trespass and disorderly conduct.
