Monroe driver facing DUI charge

A Monroe County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following an incident that occurred at 2:33 a.m. on Sunday.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers stopped a vehicle in the area of routes 611 and 196 in Mount Pocono after observing the driver commit several traffic violations. The driver was identified as Joel A. Nieves, 30, of Tobyhanna. Nieves showed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI. He was charged with DUI and summary offenses of speeding and driving an unregistered vehicle.
