Schuylkill driver facing DUI after crash

A Schuylkill County driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following a one-vehicle crash that occurred at 4:10 p.m. on Saturday along Route 924 at the intersection with Route 1005 in East Union Township.

State police at Frackville said Dean Kline, 55, of Sheppton, was driving a 2005 Ford Taurus southbound on Route 924. At the intersection his vehicle went onto the berm and initially hit a ditch area. It continued to travel along the berm until it impacted with a utility pole.

Kline was injured and taken to Geisinger-Wyoming Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. Damages were termed heavy to the Ford.

Troopers said Kline was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol. Charges are pending. Both lanes of Route 1005 was closed for several hours due to the sheered pole and downed wires.
