Monroe Farmers Market hosts its annual May Fair from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Courthouse Square in Stroudsburg.

Special guests and presentations will be available throughout the event including a free "Vermiculture" presentation at 10:30 a.m. by local Penn State Master Gardener Pat Zeman. Vermiculture is the process of using worms to decompose organic food waste, turning the waste into a nutrient-rich material capable of supplying necessary nutrients to help sustain plant growth.

Come Alive Outside Poconos will host a station informing people about rain gardens, what they are, and how they work. A "make & take" rain garden craft and a free seed-planting activity will be available for kids. There will also be free face painting and balloon animals.

There will be live music and food available, and local crafters and artists will offer unique, handmade items.

Pocono Medical Center, sponsor of the market, will be on hand with information about the hospital's services.

Camp Papillon will host an adopt-a-thon with available rescued dogs and cats. Those interested in adopting a pet should plan to stop by.
