Trespassing citations for two in Tamaqua

Published May 27. 2016 12:59PM

A dispute over property lines in Tamaqua resulted in citations for two people on May 21.

Officers were called to 228 W. Broad St. at 3:06 p.m. for a trespassing complaint. They met with the renters, who said their neighbors at 224 W. Broad St. entered their property, specifically the porch, which caused a verbal confrontation.

The neighbors, Amanda Carson, 25, and Stephen Bennett, 54, had been warned the previous day about trespassing. Carson said she wasn't on the porch, only on a walkway, when the male renter came out and began yelling at her. Bennett then approached the other man, defending his wife after she was scared by the neighbor's actions. He stood on the steps of the rear porch during the heated argument.

The Bennett property is L-shaped, wrapping around the rear of 228 E. Broad St.

All parties admitted there was a dispute over the property lines, including ownership of the walkway. The rear porch clearly is part of the rental property, resulting in trespassing citations for Bennett and Carson.
