State police offer safety tips for the holidays

Now that the holiday season is upon us, it is important to keep a few things in mind:

• Always lock your doors and windows.

• Answer the door if someone knocks. Burglars will try to break in if there is no answer.

• Keep the door locked between you and the person at the door.

• Be alert to anything suspicious. Call the police if needed.

• Keep expensive items locked out of view in the car.

• Keep purses out of view if left in vehicles.
