One injured in Schuylkill County crash
One person was injured in a two- vehicle crash reported at 1:33 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Route 61 and West Bacon Street in Palo Alto borough, Schuylkill County.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said Matthew J. Sleva, 31, of Port Carbon, was driving a 2014 Ford F150 pickup westbound on West Bacon Street and stopped for a stop sign at the intersection with Route 61. Sleva attempted to make a left turn onto 61 when his vehicle was struck by a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan driven northbound on 61 by Albert J. Yackenchick, 47, of Schuylkill Haven.
After impact, the Ford spun across the north and southbound lanes of 61 and struck a guide rail along the west berm with its back end.
The Ford then re-entered the road and came to rest facing northeast in the southbound lane.
Yackenchick was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville. Sleva and his passenger, Timothy J. Sleva, 55, of Pottsville, were not injured.
Troopers cited Sleva for duties at stop signs.
