Police investigate thefts

• State police at Lehighton said a resident on Broad Mountain View Drive in Jim Thorpe reported on Oct. 16 that someone removed a Myer 57 hydraulic plow pump from his vehicle and replaced it with a Myer 47 hydraulic pump.

• A resident of New York Boulevard, Effort, reported to state police at Lehighton at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 15 that his medication was lost or stolen from him.

• State police at Schuylkill Haven reported Melissa A. Knier, of Frackville, has been charged with theft of leased property.

Police said leased items from Rent-A-Center in Pottsville Park Plaza, Norwegian Township, on July 6. After a period of time, Knier stopped paying the set amount for leasing the items per a contract.

• State police at Fogelsville said William Joseph Wassel, 42, of Coaldale, was arrested at 3:14 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Walmart in Lower Macungie Township. Troopers said Wassel left the store without paying for several items. He was stopped by store security and held until troopers arrived.

• State police at Fogelsville barracks arrested a 37-year-old Coaldale woman for retail theft after she was caught shoplifting at Walmart in Lower Macungie Township. Police said the incident happened at 4:25 p.m. Oct. 15 when the woman selected $96.04 worth of merchandise and left the store without paying for the items.
