Driver is charged after Polk crash

Alexander R. Bentley, 18, of Kunkletown, was cited by state police at the Lehighton barracks following a one-vehicle crash at 6:32 p.m.Wednesday on Molasses Valley Road in Polk Township.

He and a passenger, Colten L. Mayes, 16, also of Kunkletown, were uninjured.

Police said Bentley was driving a 2003 Honda in the right southbound lane and was believed to be traveling too fast for conditions as the road has a series of curves in it. Police said he lost control of the vehicle, which left the right lane, and when the driver overcorrected, the vehicle spun counterclockwise and re-entered the roadway, eventually going off the shoulder and landing in a wooded area.
