Breast Cancer Awareness events
To mark the observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Lehigh Valley Health Network will be sponsoring the following events:
LVHN Mammothon: Walk-in mammograms offered at four different health centers in the Greater Lehigh Valley, which makes getting a mammogram easy and convenient. The screenings are held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on several dates:
• Oct. 4, Health Center at Bethlehem Township
• Oct. 13, Health Center at Bath
• Oct. 18, Health Center at Moselem Springs
• Oct. 18, Health Center at Bangor
No appointment or prescription is needed; a woman must be 40 years old or older and have not had a mammogram within the past 12 months. Women are reminded to bring their insurance card.
I Pink I Can: At 5 p.m. Oct. 24 experts from LVHN and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center will discuss new clinical trials for breast cancer on which they are collaborating; new methods for treating breast cancer; and the value and availability of genetic counseling.
The free event takes place at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Kasych Family Pavilion, Medical Imaging of Lehigh Valley Educational Conference Center rooms 6, 7 and 8, 1200 S. Cedar Crest Blvd in Allentown.
