Palmerton woman injured in crash

Kathy L. Anderson, 46, of Palmerton, sustained what state police at the Lehighton barracks called "suspected minor injuries" in a two-vehicle crash at 2:48 p.m.Wednesday at the intersection of Fireline and Forest Inn roads in Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said she was driving a 2015 Kia Rio eastbound on Fireline Road and was stopped due to a backlog of traffic from the stop sign at the intersection when a 2001 Ford Explorer, driven by a 17-year-old boy from Palmerton, also traveling east, failed to stop in time and struck the rear end of the Rio.

Both vehicles received minor damages.

Police did not name the 17-year-old driver, who was uninjured but was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
