Paintings of Myanmar at Muhlenberg
Martin Art Gallery at Muhlenberg College presents Selections from Altered State: Painting Myanmar in a time of transition. Altered State will be on view in the Martin Art Gallery's Galleria Space now through June 4.
Altered State is an exhibition of contemporary painting from Myanmar organized by Ian Holliday, vice president and pro-vice-chancellor at The University of Hong Kong.
Holliday has a long-standing interest in and engagement with Myanmar and regularly takes undergraduate students to teach inside the country and along its border with Thailand. He has a major collection of contemporary paintings, many of which are on public display and most of which can be viewed at thukhuma.org.
His most recent book is "Burma Redux: Global Justice and the Quest for Political Reform in Myanmar."
Martin Art Gallery is located in Baker Center for the Arts on Muhlenberg College Campus, 2400 W. Chew St., Allentown. It's open Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 8 p.m. The Galleria space is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
