The Monroe County Historical Association will host a free presentation on the history of American trout fishing and the development of American fly-fishing techniques.

Local angler, author, and artist Don Baylor will give his presentation, "The Poconos of Pennsylvania - Cradle of American Trout Fishing," as part of the Third Thursday Lecture Series at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Stroud Mansion, 900 Main St., Stroudsburg.

Baylor will cover notable anglers, destinations and literature important to the development of American trout fishing tradition at the turn of the 20th century and will make the case that the Pocono area was at least as important as the Catskills.

The lecture series is free, but reservations are required due to limited space. Light refreshments will be served.

The presentation will be held on the second floor of the Stroud Mansion, which is not handicap-accessible.

For more information or to make a reservation, contact the historical association at 570-421-7703 or email at info@monroehistorical.org.
