Published February 06. 2017 01:33PM

David Ruben Green, 64, of Mauch Chunk Street, Tamaqua, was cited by Tamaqua police for stealing items from a vehicle parked on Schuylkill Avenue on Jan. 28.

Police were contacted at 4:45 a.m. after an alert resident saw a man pulling on the door handles of a parked maroon SUV. The man did not get in the vehicle, but walked away a few minutes later. The suspect was described as being older, wearing a dark jacket, beanie, glasses and work style pants.

Green, who matched that description, was stopped on Center Street at 5:08 a.m. He agreed to talk to the officer after receiving his Miranda rights and admitted taking some change from a vehicle on Schuylkill Avenue.

He was searched and officers found $6.98 in change, $20 in bills and a flashlight in his pockets.

He was charged with theft.
