Man cited in Mahoning

A Lehighton man has been cited for his role in a crash.

At 8:45 a.m. Sunday, Mahoning Township Police investigated a single-vehicle crash on Lower Nis Hollow Drive.

In icy conditions, a westbound 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Daniel Berry, 21, slid off the roadway and hit a tree.

After impact, the vehicle came to rest in the eastbound lane.

Berry has been cited fornot having insurance.

At 3:27 p.m.Thursday, police also investigated a single-vehicle crash on Route 443.

A westbound 1995 Ford Escort driven by a 17-year-old went down an embankment, striking a utility guide wire before coming to rest in a construction site.

The driver reported feeling a possible problem with a wheel before losing control on the slush-covered shoulder.
