ServSafe course set for spring
The ServSafe course, conducted by Penn State Extension is being held at the Mahoning Valley Ambulance, 902 Mill Road, Lehighton, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 27 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 4. The exam will be held at 11 a.m. May 4.
After attending the classes and passing the exam, participants will receive a ServSafe certificate which meets the state Department of Agriculture's requirement for food safety certification. The course covers preventing cross-contamination, safe handling of food, temperature control, cleaning and sanitization, proper storage, and pest control in addition to other relevant topics.
The cost is $185. Registration deadline is April 21. Register online at www.foodsafety.psu.edu.
