Schuylkill arrests

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following arrests made by troopers.

• At 8:50 p.m. Sept. 21,Melissa Madeo, 33, of Minersville, entered BG’s Market in Norwegian Township and removed items without paying for them. She was charged with retail theft.

• William Hopkins III, 46, of Schuylkill Haven, has been charged with simple assault for an incident at 3:15 p.m. Jan. 4 in the area of 100Ridge Road, Schuylkill Haven, He became involved in a verbal argument with another person and struck the victim in the face with a wooden pole. Hopkins was arraigned on the charge and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post bail.

• Gary Hummel, 35, of Cressona, has been charged with harassment for an incident at 1:15 p.m. Saturday along Chestnut Street in Cressona. Troopers said Hummel pushed a 35-year-old woman from Cressona during an argument.
