Woman threatens store employees

A Monroe County woman is facing a charge of retail theft following an incident that occurred on Jan. 10.

Pocono Mountain Regional police responded to the Weis Markets, located along Route 940 in Mount Pocono at 10:40 p.m. for a reported theft incident. On scene officers learned that Brittany Anne Rathjen, 25, of Mount Pocono, had stolen items from the store and when confronted by store employees threatened them. She fled in a Nissan Altima which the registration listed her as the owner. Police made contact with her later and she refused to speak with them.

She was positively identified through witnesses and surveillance video, police added.
