Schuylkill crashes

State police at Frackville reported on two crashes investigated by troopers over the past weekend.

A hit-and-run crash was reported on Saturday at 12:30 a.m. along Swatara Road in West Mahanoy Township.

Troopers said a vehicle was driven southbound when it struck the front driver's side of a parked vehicle on the right side of the road.

The driver then fled the scene. The hit-and-run vehicle should have minor damage to the front driver's side fender.

The second crash occurred at 1:16 a.m. Sunday along Route 901 in Foster Township.

The driver sustained serious injuries and is facing a driving under the influence charge.

Troopers said Patric W. Boyer, 39, of Hegins, was driving a 2001 Honda CRV westbound and approaching Interstate 81 when he crossed over the bridge over the interstate at a high rate of speed.

Boyer then took a sudden left turn toward 901 to the I-81 on-ramp still going at a high rate of speed. The Honda slid across the eastbound lane to the I-81 on-ramp lane. The Honda struck a guide rail and came to rest facing southeast on the on-ramp.

Boyer, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated by rescue personnel from the Minersville Fire Company.

He was transported to a landing zone and flown to the Hershey Medical Center with suspected serious injuries, troopers said.

The DUI charge is pending.
