State police charge two with DUI

Two people are facing driving under the influence charges filed against them by state police.

One is a 57-year-old man who was involved in a nonreportable crash at 10:05 a.m. June 11 on Route 115 in Tunkhannock Township.

Police said the driver was transported to the state police barracks in Fern Ridge to submit to a breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood-alcohol reading of 0.21 percent. He was released to a friend.

The second driver is facing charges of driving under the influence of drugs. State police at Lehighton said the 23-year-old woman from Weissport was arrested after she was stopped for a traffic violation at 11:30 p.m.Saturday in the 200 block of White Street in Weissport.

Police said she was taken to Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, Lehighton, for a blood test.
