Fraudulent plate discovered in vehicle stop
A vehicle stop by Mahoning Township police has led to charges against the vehicle’s owner and the driver.
Police said on Feb. 6, at 7:10 p.m. officers stopped a Jeep Compass displaying a registration plate that had last been used on a Chevrolet Suburban.
As a result the owner of the vehicle, Christopher Weikert, 30, of Walnutport, has been charged with altered, forged, or counterfeit documents or plates (misdemeanor); and permitting violation of title (summary). A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 22.
The driver of the vehicle, Ashley Hudson, 33, of Slatington has been charged with registration and certification of title, a summary offense.
