'Birds of Prey' author at Hawk Mountain Saturday
Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, 1700 Hawk Mountain Road, Kempton, will host author Pete Dunne at 2 p.m. Saturday in the visitor center gallery to speak about and sign copies of his new book, "Birds of Prey: Hawks, Eagles, Falcons, and Vultures." The event is free.
Dunne will offer an overview of his new book, which is a definitive guide to raptors with hundreds of color photographs that enhance the comprehensive, authoritative text.
Dunne is known for his writings on nature and birding. He is founder of the World Series of Birding, a birding ambassador for the New Jersey Audubon Society and the former director of the Cape May Bird Observatory.
Hawk Mountain will also host the International Migratory Bird Day celebration on Saturday, with kid-friendly activities and information available from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the visitor center. This event highlights the migration of nearly 350 species of migratory birds in North America, Latin America, Mexico and the Caribbean. Weekend programs will also be available throughout the day, all free with a trail pass.
