Published May 10. 2017 05:30AM

A traffic stop by Pocono Mountain Regional police led to the arrest of the driver on drug charges and his placement in the county prison on an active warrant.

Police on patrol on May 7 about 8:45 p.m. observed a suspicious pickup at the Keswick development along Route 115 in Blakeslee. Police initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Emmett Fonte, 27, of 153 Upper Greenhill Road, Kunkletown. During the stop police recovered marijuana from Fonte. They also learned that Fonte had an active warrant for his arrest issued out of Sussex County Sheriff's Department in New Jersey for fraud.

He was taken into custody on the warrant and placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending his extradition back to New Jersey. Police charged him with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
