Texting driver charged with DUI after crash

Travis N. Everett, 40, of Lehighton, was charged by state police at the Lehighton barracks with driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a crash at 2:04 a.m.Sunday on Route 248 in Bowmanstown.

Police said he was traveling east in a 2008 Cadillac CTS and was texting on a hand-held phone when he lost control of the vehicle and it impacted with a guide rail.

The vehicle sustained disabling damages.
