2019 general election: Schuylkill school board races
Following are the results for Schuylkill County school districts in the Times News area.
Blue Mountain
There was five seats, four year terms, up for election with four candidates having both nominations. The four and their vote totals were Krista Strause, 3,794; Scott Reichert, 3,749; Timothy G. Grube, 3,665; and Michelle Vesay, 3,632. The fifth seat goes to Democrat W. David Lafko who got 2,972 votes to Republican Jodi Baldwin who had 2,162 votes. There were 75 write-in votes.
Mahanoy Area
Five seats, four year terms, were open with five candidates with both nominations. Their vote totals were Gary Gnall, 1,405; Susan C. Scheeler, 1,356; Nancy M. Boyle, 1,337; Michael Mistishen, 1,274; and Daniel Lynch, 1,260. There were 63 write-in votes.
Hazleton Area
There were six candidates for five seats on the Hazleton Area School Board with four of the six having won both nominations in the May primary. Those four vote totals were Ellen McBride, 1,297; Jackie Scarcella, 1,266; Wister Yuhas Jr., 1,233; and Tony Bonomo, 1,126. Republican Robert J. Fiume finished with 1,174 votes and Democrat John F. Busher, 769. There were 20 write-in votes.
Schuylkill’s vote totals will be added to those in Luzerne County to determine the five winners.
