I hereby announce my candidacy for election to the office of one of your commissioners of Carbon County, running as a nonpartisan candidate.

My name is Gerald Strubinger of Jim Thorpe. I am a lifelong resident of Carbon County and a graduate of St. Joseph Elementary School, Jim Thorpe Area High School and East Stroudsburg University.

For more than 20 years I have and also currently serve as a school director on the Jim Thorpe Area School District Board of Education. For many years I have also served as the Jim Thorpe Area School District representative on the Joint Operating Committee of the Carbon Career and Technical Institute (formerly called the Vo-Tech School) and am now serving as the chairman. I have volunteered and served on many youth programs in our communities.

I have always advocated and will continue to work for the complete elimination of all property taxes while voting against any raise in school taxes. I will not vote for any tax increases as your commissioner of Carbon County and will look to cut all unnecessary expenditures.

I believe that the economy of Carbon County should be the number one effort of the commissioners. The commissioners need to look to bring places of employment to be located in the county, especially at the West Plant of the Zinc Co. along Route 248. Updating our major roads of travel throughout the county should be one of the primary goals in order to bring jobs to Carbon County.

When elected your commissioner I will work closely with all the county municipalities and state government officials. I will be a strong voice for all citizens of Carbon County who are the owners of the government of, for and by the people.
